New Online Platform for Building Energy Calculations

With pv-calor.com, homeowners, energy consultants, and tradespeople now have access to a calculation platform for building energy. The platform offers three standards-compliant online calculators for heating load calculation, heat pump sizing, and photovoltaic simulation – free of charge and without registration.

Professional Calculations for Everyone

The platform is designed for anyone who needs a sound basis for making decisions about energy-related building measures. Unlike many online tools, the calculations are based on recognized standards:

The Heating Load Calculator operates according to DIN EN 12831-1. It includes a building component catalog based on building age classes, radiator optimization, renovation recommendations, and preparation for hydraulic balancing.

The Heat Pump Calculator enables sizing and economic feasibility calculations according to VDI 4650. It determines the seasonal performance factor and creates comparative calculations against conventional heating systems. The heating load can be transferred directly from the Heating Load Calculator.

The Solar Calculator calculates yield based on PVGIS data from the European Commission with shading analysis and integration with heat pump calculations for complete system planning.

Technical Background

The heating load calculator enables room-by-room calculation of the design heating load, including transmission and ventilation heat losses. An integrated building wizard guides users through the input process and suggests appropriate building component values based on the building age. Results can be exported as PDF documentation.

The heat pump sizing considers the calculated heating load and determines the required heat pump capacity as well as the expected seasonal performance factor. An economic comparison shows operating costs relative to gas and oil heating systems.

For solar yield calculation, climate data from the PVGIS service is used, which is based on satellite measurements and ground stations. Users receive a location-specific forecast of annual yield, taking into account roof orientation and tilt angle.

Free and Without Registration

Usage of the calculators is permanently free. No registration is required.

Alongside the calculators, the platform offers a knowledge base with technical articles on topics such as heating load fundamentals, heat pump technology, photovoltaics, and battery storage.

About pv-calor.com

The platform was developed to bridge the gap between simple rule-of-thumb calculators and expensive planning software. The goal is to make standards-compliant calculations for energy retrofits and new buildings accessible to a broad audience.
